Tapping (EFT)
The Way of Stillness: Mind & Breath
A Manual Override for the Brain’s Stress Response
Is Tapping the Right “Doorway” for Your Child?
Tapping serves as a sovereignty doorway. It is particularly effective for children who:
Feel "flooded" by their feelings
Face performance anxiety regarding tests or sports
Struggle to let go of a perceived "bad" moment from earlier in the day
The Promise
Tapping, or Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), is a practice of authenticity. It asks the child to acknowledge exactly how they feel while simultaneously sending a physical signal of safety to the brain. It is essentially "emotional acupuncture without the needles," bridging ancient meridian wisdom with modern neurological science to return sovereignty to your child.
The Soulful Science
EFT combines Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), using the same energy meridians as acupuncture combined with cognitive methods.
Clinical research shows that tapping on specific points sends a deactivating signal directly to the amygdala. When a child focuses on a stressor while tapping, they are "rewiring" the brain, teaching the amygdala that they can think about a problem without having a panic response. This breaks the biological link between the thought and the "fight-or-flight" reaction.
What to Expect
A professional or guided tapping session is rhythmic, vocal, and highly intentional:
The Setup: The session begins at the "Karate Chop" point (the side of the hand) where the child repeats a statement of self-acceptance: "Even though I feel this, I am safe and I am loved"
The Seven-Point Reset: The child uses light, firm tapping—like drumming fingers—on a specific sequence of points: Eyebrow, Side of Eye, Under Eye, Under Nose, Chin, Collarbone, Under Arm, and Top of Head.
The Shift: We use a "Feeling Thermometer" (0–10) to help the child identify their intensity levels before and after the rounds.
The Integration: Every round ends with deep mindful breathing to integrate the emotional shift.
The Golden Window
A targeted focus for kids aged 6-12
For the school-age child, tapping moves from a "magic button" game into a sophisticated tool for self-mastery:
The Social Shield: For the 9-year-old dealing with playground conflict, Tapping helps "discharge" anger or hurt so they can respond with clarity.
The Exam Anchor: For the 11-year-old facing middle school pressure, a quick round of "Finger Tapping" under the desk offers a discreet way to lower cortisol.
The Bedtime Release: Using Tapping to "empty the bucket" of the day's worries ensures an 8-year-old doesn't take stress into their dream state.
