Chiropractic & Osteopathic Manipulatives

The Way of Connection: The Body

Listening to Your Child’s Internal Rhythms

Is Chiropractic or Osteopathic Manipulation the Right “Doorway” for Your Child?

Chiropractic and osteopathic manipulation serve as comprehensive doorways. They are particularly effective for children who:

  • Have feeding or digestive issues (infants)

  • Deal with asthma or recurrent ear infections

  • Struggle with structural imbalances from growth spurts and sports

The Promise

Chiropractic or osteopathic manipulation is a physician-led practice that uses precise, manual contact to diagnose and treat the whole child, restoring the structural integrity that allows the body’s natural healing systems to flourish. It is a practice of vitality. By addressing the "living anatomy" of your child, OMT helps clear physical restrictions so that the circulatory, lymphatic, and nervous systems can work in perfect concert.

What’s the difference? While much of their therapeutic repertoire is shared, chiropractors are more likely to push on vertebrae with their hands, whereas osteopaths typically use the limbs to make levered movements.

The Soulful Science

Founded in 1874 by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, Osteopathy was built on the radical idea that the physician's job is to find the health in the patient, not just the disease.

OMT is grounded in the medical study of the Musculoskeletal System. Research indicates that manual manipulation can improve "venous and lymphatic drainage," effectively cleaning the child's internal environment and boosting the immune response. It is a bridge where medical science meets the art of touch.

What to Expect

An OMT session is a blend of a medical exam and a gentle, hands-on treatment.

The Structural Scan: The practioner will use their hands to "listen" to the tissues, checking for areas of tension, heat, or restricted movement.

The Gentle Shift: Techniques are varied; they may include Myofascial Release (gentle stretching of the connective tissue) or Muscle Energy (where the child provides a tiny bit of resistance).

The Internal Ease: Children often feel a sense of "warmth" or "opening" in the treated area. It’s common for them to feel a little tired afterward as the body begins its self-correction process.

The Golden Window

A targeted focus for kids aged 6-12

As your child enters the Golden Window period, their body faces new structural demands that require intentional alignment:

The "Tech Neck" Reset: For the 11-year-old spending hours over books and screens, chiropractic treatment can help reverse the forward-leaning posture that can lead to headaches and fatigue.

The Athletic Foundation: For the 9-year-old engaged in sports, regular adjustments ensure their joints are moving correctly, reducing the risk of injury and improving their physical potential.

The Sensory Settle: By ensuring the upper spine (near the brainstem) is aligned, chiropractic support can help settle the nervous system of an 8-year-old who feels "constantly on edge" or easily overwhelmed by sensory input.
